A half-day Women’s Day retreat in Asturias
Our theme honours the early stirrings of spring, celebrating what we view as nature’s true new year - a time of renewal, grounding, and inner transformation.
Savor a cup of cacao on arrival as we gather in circle, sharing what we wish to release
Reflective journaling and intention-setting, alongside thematic Yin yoga
Moving meditation, mudra practice, and chanting to honour Durga

As the heart behind Mama Asturiana, I guide women through life’s transitions - from shedding the old to embracing the new. With a background in psychology, yoga, and sacred earth medicine, I create spaces where every woman, mother or not, can reconnect with her wild, wise self.
For this Women’s Day retreat, I weave together intention-setting, gentle movement, reflection, and community, supported by ancient practices. My intention is that you leave feeling lighter, inspired, and deeply connected to your own inner cycles.
Why now:
I’m opening my home - La Casa de los Santuarios - and my work rooted in this land, to share my gifts and welcome women seeking connection, community, and a nurturing space to grow.

UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO AN EAR INFECTION, KALYAN IS UNABLE TO TRAVEL AND SO HAS RELUCTANTLY HAD TO WITHDRAW AT LATE NOTICE. I HOPE SHE HAS A QUICK RECOVERY AND WILL BE ABLE TO JOIN ME AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
Kalyan began her yoga journey in 2007, initially connecting through Yin Yoga and later deepening her path under the guidance of Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley. She has trained in Kundalini, Hatha, Insight Yoga, and iRest Yoga Nidra.
Her Ashtanga practice began in 2007 and deepened fully in 2015 through extensive study in Mysore with Sharath Jois, where she received authorisation to teach the full intermediate series. She continues learning with Peter Sanson and Sarah Powers, believing deeply in the value of a beginner’s mind.
What she brings:
Sarah and Kalyan first met in Rishikesh in 2015. This is their first collaboration, bringing together years of shared practice, friendship, and embodied wisdom.
During the retreat, you’ll be welcomed with cacao, share in a gentle circle, set intentions for the coming year, and move through journaling and calming Yin yoga. We’ll meditate, chant, and explore practices connected to Kali and Kuan Yin, creating space to release what no longer serves you.
Celebrating Women’s Day together means honouring our shared journeys - whether as mothers, sisters, daughters, or women simply stepping into a new season of life. This gathering is designed to be warm, grounded, and supportive rather than intense or overwhelming.
You will be held in a safe, pressure-free space. There is no forced sharing, no performance, and no expectation to show up in any particular way - just as you are.
Cacao, the raw form of chocolate, originates from ancient Mesoamerican cultures, where it was revered as a sacred drink. Modern science shows that cacao contains theobromine, a mild stimulant that gently boosts mood and energy, along with flavonoids that support circulation and heart health.
Cacao can encourage the release of serotonin and endorphins, creating a sense of well-being. It is gentle and heart-opening, offering a soothing yet uplifting experience.
If cacao isn’t for you, alternative beverages will be available so you can feel fully included and comfortable.
